Choosing the right Bible version

It is a good practice to read and study the Lord's Word everyday. In order to do so, we need to be careful in choosing the right Bible version among several versions that are available today. The English translation alone has roughly more than 450 versions, leaving aside other languages. Among all the English translated Bible versions, "The King James" version is the most accurately translated Bible. Many would recommend using the King James Version, as the translation is accurate to the original Hebrew – Old Testament, and the Greek – New Testament. Many Bibles have verses and words like the “blood" relating to Jesus Christ removed. You will find the words and verses which are removed in other bible versions, to be present in the King James Version.

If you would like to validate a Bible version, whether it is authentic or not, try checking for the following errors. If the Bible that you are referring to has one of the following errors, then it is not an authentic version.

1. We all know that it was King David who killed Goliath, as this is one story that has been taught to children when they are young. Check 2 Samuel 21:19 and see whether it says that it was King David who killed Goliath. The King James version accurately says:

" And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaareoregim, a Bethlehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam"

2. Colossians 1:14 should say:

"In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins"

Other mistranslated bibles will have “through his blood” removed.

3. Luke 4:4 should say:

“And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God”

Other mistranslated bibles will have “but by every word of God” removed.

4. Mark 9:44 should say “Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.” Other mistranslated bibles will have verse 44 removed.

5. Acts 8:37 should say “And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” Other mistranslated bibles will have verse 37 removed.

6. Acts 7:45 should say “Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David”. Other mistranslated bibles will have the name "Jesus" replaced with "Joshua".

7. 2 Timothy 2:15 should say:

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”

Whereas other mistranslated bibles will have the word “Study” replaced with something else.

8. Psalm 12:6-7 should say:

"The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever."

The above verse explains how perfect the Word of the Lord is, and the promise of the Lord to preserve His Word from one generation to other forever. Other mistranslated bibles would have the entire meaning of the above verse altered. Several such bibles remove and alter verses which depicts the importance of the God's Word.

9. Ephesians 3:9 should say:

"And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ"

Other mistranslated bibles will have the name of Jesus removed.

10. Isaiah 14:12 should say "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!". Several mistranslated bibles calls satan (Lucifer) as "the morning star" instead of saying "son of the morning". The Word of the Lord calls Jesus Christ as the morning star.

"I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star" - Revelations 22:16

The Word of the Lord strictly says not to add or remove scripture:

"Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it..." – Deuteronomy 4:2

"Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar" – Proverbs 30:6

"For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book" - Revelations 22:18-19

Make sure the Bible which you are referring to is an accurate translation by authenticating with the above verses. Read the Bible everyday and meditate on the Lord's Word, because one Word from the Lord can bless you, eternally.
